With 180 degree views of the Russell Wharf, township and Veronica Channel beyond, the Captain’s Lookout at Russell is one of the best spots to soak up the delights of the Bay of Islands whilst only being 5 minutes walk from the Russell shops, cafes and bars. The charming ‘Zig Zag’ track 1 house away takes you down to the village.

Beautifully renovated, this original 1960’s weatherboard home makes the most of its location, and also features all the luxuries you enjoy at home. With sundrenched decks off the lounge and two of the three bedrooms, you can soak up the outstanding views from many spots.

The Master Bedroom is a haven which features a modern en suite with shower, built in wardrobing, and sliding doors onto a private deck with its own deluxe sun loungers to soak up the sun and enjoy the views over Russell away from the rest of the family. A new designer King-size slat bed and matching furniture give this room a light, chic and relaxed feel.

The second bedroom is a large room with ample space to spread out. Includes a new Super king-size designer metal frame bed, built in wardrobing and relaxed furnishings. Situated at the rear of the house, this room is cool peaceful and private.

Twin bedroom/kids room – this really is the lookout! The highest room in the house features two King single beds and a chest of drawers. Light and airy, this room also opens onto its own deck meaning that guests can step out and enjoy the sun or the stars without going through the living area, and a truly spectacular view of Russell and the Veronica Channel beyond. The room is designed for two adults to share, or two kids. Deck furniture includes kids size deck chairs and a mini table, whilst there are two comfy outdoor chairs for the grown ups to enjoy this deck!

There is a large modern main bathroom for the other rooms to share, featuring shower cubicle and bath, as well as toilet and basin vanity. There is also a lavatory off the fully equipped laundry which itself features washing machine and dryer.

The modern open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area has ample living space for cooking and food storage (including a large larder), dining, and relaxing with both a sophisticated hi fi, and LCD TV and DVD player, and Sky Digital Satellite TV and WI-FI/broadband connection.

Modern dining includes a large table with 6 chairs. Two new 3 seat sofas means there should be room for everyone to relax.

The kitchen comes complete with easy holiday cooking utensils so whatever you fancy making will be easy, plus a mix of essential cooking ingredients (seasoning, herbs and spices) and tomato sauce.

The views truly are spectacular including a view directly over and into central Russell and the busy wharf, and beyond to all the yachts and boats passing by in the Veronica Channel. A large outdoor table and chair set, and modern BBQ, mean you can both cook and relax and make the most of the outstanding location.

Our gardens include fig, plum, apple and lemon trees. When in season, help yourself but spare some for the next visitor!

Wonderful time in this great house.  We so enjoyed the views.  We were met by a lovely very helpful lady.  Russell is a delight.  We loved the market in Kerikeri nad the deserted beaches on Karikari Peninsular.  90 mile beach was really exciting too.  The restaurant kamakura by the jettyn was absolutely superb.
