Kerkeri

Kerikeri is in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand’s own subtropical paradise. Experience the lifestyle – Birds, Beaches, Food, Fishing and really great people.

Kerikeri is that wonderful mix of the new, the old and the exciting. It includes its historic past but not at the expense of the now. Kerikeri has built on its past, from the original Maori settlements that lived in and embraced the temperate and pleasant surroundings, to a vibrant modern town on the edge of the Bay of Islands.

You can see the same waterfall and walk the same track that Charles Darwin did in 1835. You can walk to Hongi Hika’s Pa site at Koropiro and see how it commanded a view of the river in both directions. You can look upriver to the site of the Mission station and the Stone Store. Cross the Kerikeri River on the same ford that the early settlers used.

Kerikeri can offer you arts, crafts, culture (old and new), dining, entertainment, exciting adventures, music and theater. If you like, you can get away from it all by exploring one of the many walks in the area, or go and see the majestic kauri’s at Puketi Forest. There is access to Kerikeri Inlet and the Bay of Islands.
