Blue Penguin Cottage is a modern 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom holiday home, set in the grounds of Russell Cottages complex in the beautiful Bay of Islands.
Only a 3.5 hour drive from Auckland and an easy 2-minute stroll to Russell waterfront, shops and cafes. This lovely holiday rental is your perfect Northland getaway and your family and friends will love the complimentary access to the complex's shared facilities, including a heated pool, hot tub, BBQ area and children's playground.
The cottage has been built from a traditional timber weatherboard. The interior features solid timber floors in the living area, quality carpet in the upstairs area, raked ceilings and is fully appointed to a very high standard.
The Space
GROUND FLOOR
- The living and dining area is open plan with French doors leading out onto a sunny deck and a private garden with outdoor furniture.
- The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and has basic essentials such as coffee, tea, cereal, salt, pepper and oil.
- Master super-king bedroom with ensuite bathroom and shower.
- Laundry with washing machine and dryer.

SHARED FACILITIES
- Pool is available for all guests.
- Spa Pool - Please book a time slot to use the spa after check-in. There is a register in the pool house.
- BBQ's are at the pool house. Please book a time slot to use these after check-in. There is a register in the pool house.
- Boat parking - There are 2x parks for boats next to Cottage 11, max 6m length. This parking cannot be booked. It is first-come, first-served.
Guest Access
You will be the only guests in the cottage, irrespective of the rooms booked. Please note that the Pool, Spa and BBQ's are shared with other Cottages.
You have two designated car parks right in front of the Cottage.
Other things to note
Bookings that do not meet the minimum night stay requirement will be charged a short stay, service fee and linen rental fee.
As the Russell Cottages are a peaceful, family environment, no large gatherings, parties or loud music are permitted. If complaints are received from neighbouring cottages an instant fine may be issued and you may be evicted from the premises.

Special Conditions
- There are two dedicated car parking spaces allocated to your cottage 12A & 12B. If you are bringing a boat, you will need to park in the boat parking at the rear of the property – this is on a first-come, first-served basis. If you do have a boat and have 2 cars and the boat parking is full, you will need to park the boat in the cottage’s dedicated car park and the other car on the street. We highly recommend that you do not leave valuable/expensive equipment in the boat.
- This property is priced based on the number of bedrooms booked, allowing smaller groups to enjoy the home at a reduced rate.
- Please select the number of bedrooms required at booking and advise your preferred bedding configuration. If not specified, a standard setup will be prepared. Unused rooms will be locked; you will still have exclusive use of the property.
- Cleaning and linen are charged based on the number of bedrooms you book.
- For your comfort, the house is pet-free and is a non-smoking property.
- High chair and porta cot hire are available on request ($25 for a high chair or porta cot per stay, including linen or $40 for both).
- Booking fee is $100 and a 3.5% credit card fee applies.
- No gathering/parties or unauthorised/additional persons staying at the property. This will breach the rental conditions and you may be asked to depart the property. Our general Terms & Conditions apply.
